As a photographer of 25 -35 weddings a year I can tell you things get misplaced, lost, or never brought to the wedding that they intended to bring. It not only frustrates the bride but sometimes brings tears. I created this list and send my couples before the wedding. I have put together some wedding tips for your wedding day.
TIPS:
Tip 1: Find a Bag to start putting items in. Set the bag out a few weeks before your wedding and start collecting things you might need. Mud Pie makes this cute bag that actually has BRIDE on it. That way you can say… “it’s in the bride bag” or “throw it in the bride bag.” I’ve seen brides say look in the black bag but when you look down there are five black bags on the floor.
Tip 2: Tie Card– Does your groom or groomsmen where ties often? Some don’t. Print a free version on pinterest to take to the groomsmen for getting ready. Take a look at the knots at Ties.com. You can see which knot you’d like them to try.
Tip 3: Eye Lash Glue– Even if you don’t want to have fake eyelashes, eye lash glue is a great product to have for your necklaces… that’s right. It comes off of you skin by washing but you don’t have to constantly be rotating your necklace to be the center of your chest. Do you have a back necklace? this is great to keep everything straight and center.
Tip 4: Superglue– I can’t count how many times there is a problem with someone shoe. Heels come off, someone is walking and turns an ankle to find their heel has broken.
Tip 5: Stoppers/Heel Savers– In sticking with shoes, high heel stoppers on Amazon are a must if you have an outdoor wedding with grass. High Heels get stuck in small grooves, shoes come off or someone falls because they sunk (that’s a country word for sink) into the ground. I can’t tell you how important this is. It’s also a great gift to give your bridesmaids in their bags.
Tip 6: Back up Shoes– Let’s just say it… heels are glamourous and make you feel like a million bucks. But dancing in them all night in them will make you miserable. Have a pair of backup shoes… don’t just go barefoot… even if that’s you. Barefoot will mean you are stepping on your dress while dancing, you might step in someone’s spilled drink, icing fell on the floor, cups break and the glass hasn’t been cleaned up… it just isn’t a good idea.
Tip 7: Vendor Tips– Sometimes this is an after thought. Your wedding was wonderful, you loved all of your vendors but you forgot to bless them for their work. I’ll be honest, tips aren’t required. But after working a long wedding day, tips can make vendors feel so blessed and cherished. Yes, they are doing a service for you but a little bit goes a long way.
Tip 8: Steamer– This isn’t just for the dress, the men’s pants or shirt are always needing a little something extra. Do you have a groomsmen who you know will throw his shirt in a gym bag and go… this can also be for him.
Tip 9: Tissues- Your wedding day can be an emotional day. It is one of the best days of your life. If you know there will be waterworks, pack little bags of tissue for yourself or for your groom. I have seen a groom take his suit sleeve and wipe his noes with it… haha!
Tip 10: Nice hanger- You have a beautiful dress and you can’t wait to see those ultimate dress shots but you don’t have a wooden or pretty hanger. You just have the plastic hangers… with a beautiful dress you need a pretty hanger.
Bonus Wedding Tips: Scissors, Fashion tape, bandaids, shoe inserts, lotion for your hands.
