As a family and wedding photographer timing is everything. That also comes with our vacations. Married to a teacher we have specific weeks off that we can go. Then we have to work out summer school (he teaches and night school.) So this vacation was well needed and we really wanted to visit. Trevor and I visited the Creation Museum it’s first year opened. We loved it and the crowds were…. o.k. I mean you have to stand in line everywhere you go right??
The creation museum is beautiful. I could spend hours walking in the garden. With three boys… we opted for about 30 minutes. They loved the different bridges (some would wobble) and of course they wanted to race around the gardens and hide. They were beautiful. Along the trail were signs to different paths. There is a small petting zoo at the creation museum but if you want a full animal experience The Ark Encounter would be best. The boys did both the zipline courses. For young children I would say the Creation Museum was easier to reach all the bottoms. There were times my the six year old couldn’t reach the floors to cross and our guide had to push him through. Sam (6) needed a parent.
If you want a great family snapshot the gardens on the creation museum is your place. The Museum is far more than a walk-through of Genesis. It is definately an Educational Experience. There was alot of reading on the posters on the walls. I would say visiting this second time around we looked at it from a childs point of view. The models of the art were great. If we didn’t have grandparents and an aunt with us we would have spent about three to four hours here. But since we were with other people we did spend most of the day here. If you are deciding to go the dinosaur exhibit was so fun for my boys. You should watch all the shows.
Brezzy… yep Can you tell? Do you see that tall tower in the back next to the Ark… that’s where Trevor jumped off the Zipline tower… Crazy right…
Ok, back to the Ark. The parking is not close to the Ark. You must take a bus. If you are bringing a stroller make sure you are able to easily get it on and off. There is a lot of walking. There are three levels to walk through. They do have handicap accessible but bring your walking shoes. Although the front part is beautiful, if you are dressing for a family picture the creation museum is where you should get your more dressy picture.
